Our client is looking for a Manufacturing Process Technician. In this key role, youll be responsible for ensuring the manufacture of high quality copper consumable components from raw material to their controlled inventory location. The manufacturing processes include multi-axis CNC machines, manual and automated pressing/assembly equipment, as well as laser marking equipment and packaging equipment. Youll create, maintain, document and improve existing cell machining and fabrication processes in support of a three shift operation using Lean and Six Sigma practices to enhance quality, reduce cost, improve safety, and increase earnings. You will take direction from cell leadership and cell Manufacturing Process Engineers and collaborate with team members.
Essential Functions:
1. Develops, statistically tests, launches, and documents Capable, Productive and Robust manufacturing processes (e.g., tool selection, sequencing, and application of cutting tools) while ensuring compliance to both safety standards and cost effectiveness in the best interest of the company.
2. Diagnoses symptoms of machining process problems (i.e., production of out of specification parts), working with others to determine root cause and applies corrective action - determined in collaboration with or without guidance from other associates - to increase machine up-time.
3. Continually standardizes and improves manufacturing processes and sustains and supports existing processes (e.g., machining, tooling, and equipment selection) using Lean tools and other statistical tools to optimize and enhance the companies process capability, productivity, and robustness; provides support to successfully implement process improvements. As part of a group, trains production support technicians on adherence to process standards and development of process diagnostic skills.
4. Develops process documentation, machine programs, and process capability studies in support of successful new product launches to expand the companies product portfolio.
5. Assures established process standards are met in assigned areas across a three shift operation.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education Requirements:
HS or GED
5
years of machining and/or programming in a manufacturing environment
Minimum Experience Requirements:
3-5
years program and process development with Swiss style machine tools
Knowledge and experience with capability studies/Minitab
Working knowledge of ESPRIT and SolidWorks software
Proven project management experience
Experienced knowledge of tooling and tooling suppliers
Preferred
Experience:
Proven ability to mentor and develop technical staff
DFM experience (Design For Manufacturing)
Cost reduction initiatives
Quality improvement initiatives
Experience with Lean Manufacturing tools
